Eureka Springs Conference

I attened the Eureka Springs Writers Conference in Arkansas on October 6-8, 2011. The guest speakers were fantastic. At the Saturday awards banqut I place 3rd Homorable Mentioned for my short story, A Dragon or Not, about a dargon who safeguards a young boy from childhood to adolescents. He longs to become a human boy. But first they must solve a riddle. Needless to say, dreams do come true.
I also received 2nd place for my short story, Grandma Claus, about the time my grandmother dressed as Santa Claus to convince me and my brothers and sisters that Old St. Nick was real.

I needed pictures for a project I wanted to do. Bill and I spent several days driving around the area to take snapshots of horses, cows and streams. My biggest wish was to find a split railed fence. Well, there is something said for getting lost. On an unfamilar country road, there it was, my wish come true. The owner allowed me to take all the pictures I wanted and told  me the background of this dying art. A local man, eighty-three years young, splits these rails by hand. After talking several minutes about his fence and log cabin, he gave us directions to a main highway. Even the simplest wishes can come true.

You will never fulfill your dreams, if you don't start today.
